Vincenza Mondonico never gives up and her restaurant, the historical Trattoria Chiarone, continues to be famous and appreciated by an ever increasing number of tourists that discover Val Tidone. Perhaps people like Vincenza and her cuisine have made this territory so attractive.
Chiarone is a suburb of Pianello Val Tidone famous for the production and aging of cold cuts thanks to its particular mico-climate and the competence of the only family of pork-butchers still present : the Oddi family, with their professional precision, have become a reliable address for lovers of coppa, pancetta and salame.
Vincenza is the professional alter ego of local cuisine. With her daughters and grandchildren she knows how to give the womans touch to the dishes and the ambience. Two dining rooms, very French in the choice of colors and furnishings, tables and cupboards create spaces which invite you to take a break. In the summer meals are served outdoors. The open-style kitchen are testimony of the care the chef dedicates to the dishes: tortelli and panzerotti, tagliolini with porcini mushrooms, boiled meats, stewed boar meat are only a few of the most desired dishes. Very affordable prices.
Vincenzina, as her affectionate clients call her, left them orphans ten years ago but they “demanded” her return to the kitchen where she favors lengthy cooking which gives her time to describe the gastronomic traditions of the piacenza countryside.
